Mountain Series IX is an insulated winter jacket built for cold, wet and windy days. A polyester shell with a bonded 5,000 mm waterproof membrane keeps out rain, snow and wind, while a thermal-reflective lining sends body heat back towards you.
Wear it over a thermal at around 0°C, or build it into a full layering system with a thermal and a mid layer down to −15°C.
Key Features
Bonded Waterproof Membrane
Purpose: A wet shell pulls heat away from the body fast.
Benefit: The 5,000 mm membrane bonded into the shell keeps rain and snow out and blocks the wind.
Thermal-Reflective Lining
Purpose: Much of the body's warmth is lost as radiant heat.
Benefit: The golden-dot lining reflects that heat back inwards, adding warmth without adding bulk.
Adjustable Insulated Hood
Purpose: The head and neck lose heat quickly in wind.
Benefit: Drawcords at the collar pull the hood close around the face and seal out gusts.
Two-Way Front Zip with Storm Flap
Purpose: A front zip is the easiest way in for wind and rain.
Benefit: A heavy-duty moulded zip sits behind a Velcro storm flap, and opens from the bottom for sitting, driving or venting.
Sealed Cuffs and Hem
Purpose: Cold air gets in at the wrists and waist.
Benefit: Velcro cuffs with inner rib cuffs, and a drawcord hem, close every opening.
Zipped Storage
Purpose: Open pockets let in rain and lose essentials.
Benefit: Two hand pockets and a chest pocket with reverse zips, plus an inner zip pocket for valuables.

Engineering Notes
The waterproof membrane is bonded directly to the polyester shell rather than hung as a separate layer, so the jacket stays quiet and structured and the membrane is protected from wear. Rated at 5,000 mm, it holds out rain and snow and stops wind passing through the fabric. Inside, the thermal-reflective lining works with the insulation: the golden dots reflect radiant heat back to the body while the gaps between them let the lining breathe. Every opening can be closed: an adjustable hood, a storm flap over the front zip, Velcro cuffs over inner rib cuffs, and a drawcord hem. Pocket zips are reverse-set, with the teeth on the inside, for a cleaner face and less water entry.

Recommended Use
Winter travel, trekking, mountain trips, snow and cold-weather commuting. Wear it as the outer layer of a layering system: over a thermal on cold days, and over a thermal and mid layer in freezing and sub-zero conditions.

Before You Buy
Is it fully waterproof?
The shell and membrane are rated to 5,000 mm and keep out rain and snow. The seams are not taped, so in long, heavy downpours some water may get through at the seams.
How cold can I wear it?
Over a thermal it suits temperatures around 0°C. With a thermal and a fleece mid layer, it is built for conditions down to −15°C.
Will a mid layer fit underneath?
Yes. The regular fit leaves room for a thermal and a mid layer. Check the Size Guide beside the size options, and size up for a heavy sweater.
Can I machine wash it?
Yes, cold and gentle, with zips closed. Skip fabric softener and the tumble dryer to protect the membrane.
